In September 2018 Xueda opened the first of its foreign language schools. These innovative primary schools follow the Chinese National Curriculum but supplement this with a variety of international initiatives. They use foreign, native English speaking teachers to teach English in Grade 1, and additional subjects are taught in English as the students move up through the school. A particular feature of these schools is an exciting programme of extension courses provided for the children after school, and many of these are taught in English, by both foreign and Chinese teachers. Classes in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) are offered alongside drama, structured reading, art, roller blading and so on.These schools are designed to provide the best of traditional Chinese schooling alongside methods and resources sourced internationally.
